Thomas Genon Wins Zuritrails Jumppark Contest
October 8, 2018Just a few weeks before he’ll be dropping in on the world’s biggest freeride contest, Belgian rider Thomas Genon travelled to Zurich to compete at the Zuritrails Jumppark Contest, which attracts riders of all different calibers every year – from seasoned pros to young up and comers.
Straight out of the gate, Genon came out on fire, putting down a heater of a run, filled with his signature moves and putting 88.00 points on the board. The only one to come close to that score in their first run was German rider Lukas Schäfer, who scored 82.00 in his first run, which would eventually see him finish in third place.
As the freshly-minted FMB World Tour Rookie of the Year and Zürich local boy, Lucas Huppert was chasing another good result this season, but couldn’t put it together in his first run, which only scored him 30.00 and put him at the bottom of the ranking heading into the second run. With nothing to lose, Huppert went all-in, landed everything and rocketed into the Top 3 with an 87.3, only 0.7 behind Red Bull Joyride veteran Thomas Genon.
